Meet Lorrie Bertrand
Human. Therapist. Cultivator of soft spaces for high-achieving women of color.
If you’re here, chances are you’re the strong one. The fixer. The high-functioning, emotionally attuned woman who’s been holding it down for everyone—while quietly unraveling inside.
You’ve probably outgrown talk therapy that just circles around the issue. You’re ready for real change, not just coping skills. You want to feel safe in your body, clear in your boundaries, and free from patterns that keep playing out in your relationships.
That’s where I come in.
Who I Work With
As a trauma-informed therapist, I specialize in working with:
BIPOC women who are ready to stop performing strength & healing and start actually healing
People-pleasers, perfectionists, and high-achievers are overwhelmed by guilt and burnout
Adults navigating relationship struggles rooted in attachment wounds, generational trauma, or childhood emotional neglect
Clients looking to break free from anxiety, emotional shutdown, or over-functioning
-
Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and real. We let curiosity guide our work and soften the voice that says you should have it all figured out by now. You don’t need to come with perfectly articulated thoughts or a clear game plan. You just need to come as you are, open to learning more about yourself.
We’ll move at a pace that honors your nervous system. Together, we’ll explore the emotional patterns, protective strategies, and internal conflicts that are keeping you stuck. Along the way, I’ll support you in reconnecting with your body, your truth, and your sense of groundedness.
-
Each session is 45–50 minutes of insight-driven, body-aware work. Whether that's through EMDR, ACT, Brainspotting, mindfulness or Ego states, we’ll explore how past experiences shape your present struggles and to support emotional healing. We’ll work to reintegrate the parts of you that have been in survival mode, so you can move through the world with more clarity, calm, and confidence.
-
My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and intuitive. I show up as a real person warm, honest, and sometimes funny but mostly with a deep respect for your pace and process. I’ll support you through a person-centered lens, offering tools that empower your internal authority rather than impose external pressure.
You’ll feel supported and gently challenged, with space to process, tools to grow, and no expectation to “perform” your healing.
Background & Credentials
I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW #125106) based in Massachusetts, with over a decade of experience in community mental health, adoption work, medical social work, and supporting young parents. I know what it means to carry too much for too long—and how deeply unseen trauma can shape our sense of safety, worth, and self.
In our work together, I draw from advanced trauma modalities like EMDR (trained through Trauma Specialists Institute) and Brainspotting (Phase 1 certified). These approaches go beyond words and help us access the parts of your story that live in your body and nervous system.
No Pressure, No Performance
There’s no wrong way to do therapy. This is a judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are. As long as you're open to unlearning what no longer serves you, we’ll take it one step at a time—together.
