High-Functioning Anxiety & Overwhelm
“The strong one” who is quietly burning out
You’ve always had to be the one others could count on, the dependable one, the one who gets things done, keeps it together, pushes through. You are the definition of hustle, always moving, always thinking, always planning.
But behind the success and composure is a nervous system stuck in overdrive.
What Anxiety Really Looks Like
You’re not “just anxious.” You are navigating a world that has rewarded your over-functioning and taught you that survival means achievement. Your anxiety may look like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or hyper-independence and the belief that asking for help is risky and you have to handle it all yourself.
But being the strong one shouldn't cost you your peace.
In therapy, we slow down. We unlearn and make room for the parts of you that have been holding everything together for years without rest.
Therapy for Anxiety – What You Can Expect
Anxiety doesn’t just live in your thoughts. It lives in your body, your habits, your relationships. In therapy, we’ll gently explore the parts of you that have been holding everything together without rest.
We’ll work together to:
Uncover how your nervous system learned to stay in survival mode
Get to know the internal parts of you that carry fear, pressure, and urgency
Create safety for your body to rest, soften, and release
Redefine success in a way that doesn’t require self-abandonment
Relief isn’t just feeling less anxious. It’s having space in your day, clarity in your mind, and the permission to not have it all figured out. It’s waking up without dread and moving through the world with more ease.
My Approach
I work with high-achieving, emotionally intelligent women, and specialize in working with Black women, First-Gen professionals, and women of color who are tired of white-knuckling their way through life.
My approach is warm, decolonized, and rooted in social justice. You don’t need to explain why you keep pushing or why slowing down feels scary. I understand how survival has shaped you, and we’ll work together to expand what’s possible beyond it.
You don’t have to let go of your drive. We’re just learning how to heal alongside it.

Here’s what you should know
-
Yes. High-functioning anxiety is often hidden behind achievement, perfectionism, and being the strong one. Just because you’re still showing up doesn’t mean you're okay. Therapy helps you tend to what’s happening under the surface.
-
You’re not alone in that. Many of my clients fear that if they stop, everything will fall apart. Together, we build safety in your nervous system first so rest and stillness no longer feel like a threat.
-
Yes. These methods don’t require you to talk through every detail. They help your brain and body process what’s been stuck so you can move forward with less emotional weight.
-
Absolutely. As a therapist who centers BIPOC and First-Gen experiences, I hold space for how systemic pressure, racial trauma, cultural expectations, and generational dynamics shape your mental health.
-
Not at all. Many of my clients are doing “just fine” on paper but are overwhelmed on the inside. Therapy is for support, not just survival.
